Divine Rules

Objective
To win a game of Divine, you must determine a secret color combination of four pegs. You have 10 opportunities to play a matching row of pegs, and after each row is placed, how close you came to winning is shown via results pegs. By using logical deduction, you are able to use the result pegs to narrow down the possible solutions until you either make a lucky guess, or have only one solution left.

Difficulty
There are are eight difficulty settings. Each difficulty settings corresponds to an increased number of colors, and therefore possible combinations, that could be used in the secret combination.

Analyzing
After you place a color combination on the board, black and white result pegs appear in the area immediately to the left. The result pegs do not correspond to a specific combination peg, but rather to the combination as a whole. The meaning of the pegs is this:
  • A white peg indicates you have a peg of the correct color on the board, but in the wrong spot. Four white pegs indicates that all the pegs in your combination are in the solution, but not in the position that you have placed them in.
  • A black peg indicate a combination peg of the correct color in the correct position. Four black pegs indicate that you have solved the solution and won the game.
  • If there are no result pegs this means that none of the combination pegs you have placed on the board are in the solution.
Using this mixture of result pegs, you can then logically combine the results of multiple rows and make certain deductions about the combination of the solution. For example on how to do this, it's easiest to view some recent games.
